What the study measured
How it was studied
The multicentre study included 20 patients with a mean age of 34. After harvesting, the fat was injected into the masseter on each side of the mandibular angle under ultrasound guidance.
Muscle thickness increased right after surgery, decreased at one month and remained significantly greater than before surgery, in men and women.
What the study does not allow us to claim
The thickness gained decreases during the first month; what the study measures is what remains above the starting point.
The authors state that long-term results still need evaluation.
