How many centimetres of waist can be reduced?
In the foundational study, with 30 women, waist circumference went from a median of 69.0 cm to 58.7 cm at three months, close to ten centimetres, with P = 0.0001. In the multicentre series of 3,805 patients the mean reduction was eleven centimetres.
These are group medians and means, not an individual promise. What can be achieved depends on each patient's anatomy and can only be estimated in consultation.
The two figures come from different studies with different sizes, which is why they do not match exactly. Both are published and linked below.
Any figure promised without examining the patient is worth treating with suspicion.
